Athlete Of The Month – September 2015 : Tiffany Huff

 In Athlete Of The Month

Warming up the hips, Tiffany cranks out a few kettle bell swings to prepare for the WOD.

Whole Strength CrossFit makes it a point to showcase their members. With our “Athlete Of The Month” feature we aim to put the spotlight on the individuals of our community that continue to excel in all ways. For the month of September, we sat down with Tiffany Huff and asked her a few questions about her experience with CrossFit and the vibe at Whole Strength.

1. How did you come to find out about Whole Strength CrossFit?

I met Michelle and Ryan at church several years ago and Michelle and I have continued to stay connected via facebook. I saw her post frequently about their Crossfit gym and I was curious so I inquired. It took more than 6 months to convince myself that I should come and try it out. Crossfit has always been intimidating to me but my best friend from college has done it for years and she loves it! She finally convinced me to try it out for myself… and I am glad that I did!

2. What is your favorite WOD?

I don’t really have a favorite WOD,  but I like the ones that have a mix of cardio and strength the best (as long as it doesn’t involve burpees!).

3. Least favorite Move?

 Burpees!!!!!

4. Biggest accomplishment so far?

Staying committed to working out consistently and incorporating healthy eating into my lifestyle.

A recurring theme, applying your fitness with an outdoor excursion is almost a given. Tiffany and her husband James set out for a kayaking trip.

5. What is your six month Goal?

Eat healthier, get stronger and feel better about myself.

6. What do you enjoy most about Whole Strength CrossFit?

The encouragement and support from our coaches. I never thought I would have the strength or endurance to get through most of the workouts but with their encouragement, I have been able to succeed!

7. What is your Occupation?

I am a Nurse at Neurosurgery Clinic.

8. What is your fitness background?

I grew up playing sports and have always enjoyed fitness, but have never done anything like Crossfit before.

Tiffany is all smiles as you can tell. And for what better reason than right before the run she is about to crush?!?

9. How long have you been CrossFitting?

9 months.

10. Thoughts after your first CrossFit experience?

OMG- what did I sign up for!

11. What advice would you give to a new CrossFitter?

It’s ok to be scared or nervous, but step out of your comfort zone and give it a try. You might hate it at the beginning because it is hard and challenging, but keep at it for 4 weeks before deciding its not for you. You will see a side of yourself that you didn’t know existed and it feels good to meet new fitness goals and to accomplish something that you didn’t know that you could do!

Whole Strength CrossFit admires each and every one of it’s members. All of them make up the core of what we have strived to build. Community is the forefront of Whole Strength. Members, like Tiffany, who push themselves to the limit and keep spirits high are a blessing to all of us. We are nothing without them. We are Whole Strength!
