Athlete Of The Month – February 2016 : Mark Crowell

 In Athlete Of The Month

Mark finds his pace on the box jumps. Keeping gas in the tank for the wall balls.

The community at Whole Strength CrossFit is as diverse as they come. Our members come from all walks of life and we are fortunate to have so many passionate people to have in our box. Which brings us our February featured Athlete. Mark “The Doctor” Crowell. We sat down with him and asked him a few questions about his experience at Whole Strength CrossFit so far.

1. How did you come to find out about Whole Strength CrossFit?

Fellow CrossFitters always find one another. So when I moved back to Nashville it didn’t take long to find Ryan and Michelle. When I found out they were going to open Whole Strength CrossFit, I was immediately on board!

2. What is your favorite WOD?

Any 15 to 25 min WOD with a mix of gymnastics and weight training. But if it’s going to be a bit longer, I’ll go for a Filthy Fifty.

Dance moves. Shmance moves. He’s too cool for his own good.

3. Least favorite Move?

Thrusters

4. Biggest accomplishment so far?

Getting my Level 1 Certification.

Coach encourages The Doctor… “CHEST TO THE GROUND!”

5. What is your six month Goal?

225 clean and 205 clean and jerk.

6. What do you enjoy most about Whole Strength CrossFit:

They’ve managed to keep the EGO out of the gym and really create authentic community. I love the people!

Mark with his team at Legacy Chiropractic and his very first client. The Doctor… Is in.

7. What is your Occupation?

I’m a Chiropractor.

8. What is your fitness background?

High school athletics. I’ve been personal training since 2005. Certifications through IFPA, ACSM, YMCA and CrossFit.

Rowing Class at Whole Strength CrossFit. Top Notch Coaching.

9. How long have you been CrossFitting?

2008

10. Thoughts after first CrossFit experience?

It felt like the full package. I got into the philosophy they had on fitness first and then the workouts. I was sold on the logic and reason behind CF. The workouts just became hot sauce mixed with fire.

Mark with his wife Jadrian. No worries… We gave him the ok on the tie color.

11. What advice would you give to a new Crossfitter?

Commit for a year and you won’t believe how much transformation you experience. You’ll find favorites and worsts and all will make you a better individual inside and out. Stick with it and commit to learn the movements, they will benefit you in every area of your life. Work hard and have fun. Be competitive, it will make you better. Hug people and give them high fives after the workouts. And…talk about CrossFit with everyone you meet! I’m sure you’ll want to.

Mark has become a valuable asset to the Whole Strength Community. He has a long running experience with CrossFit and in the wellness space in general. And not to mention a motivating force for our Athletes. We are so very pleased he chose us for his CrossFit family.
